The Failure of the Imagination Cafe Players

February 13 - March 13, 2022

It’s late November. You pick me up from the airport and we’re driving and talking about the news. You point out everything that’s changed since whenever I was there last. They found a large fossil while digging out the foundation for some condos and now you can see it at the museum. We circle a neighborhood of mid century starter homes with burn scars in the adjacent forest. Last spring there was flooding deemed a national emergency. It seems likely that the sandbags piling up will stay there forever.

These pyramidish hunks I made up and named “tellers” are now like wannabe ocean capture. I feel compelled to rattle off what they are made of; crust and lately blue eyeshadow. The first iteration was exhibited under the banner, The Square at Noon. There is some debate about the metaphysics of the noon event, even if only as metaphor. Is it a time where the shadowless object appears in untethered sovereignty? Or is it a fully integrated dissolution of light into dark that begets some kind of true artifact of transcendental embodiment?

A fetish for pinking & “Never Forget”.
