For Jeffrey Stark’s first exhibition, we are pleased to present a selection of new paintings by Louise Fishman, Rosanna Bruno and Odessa Straub. Spanning three generations of painters, this show brings together different artists working within the shifting tradition of painting. Conceived of as a loose dialogue between three artists facing the complex historical legacies of abstract painting, each one's practice serves to illuminate the ways in which these divergent paths have taken shape within the conditions of the contemporary moment.
Each artist emerges from a unique point in time, informed and inspired by various pasts, presents, and futures, subject to her own distinct impulses and all gathered here to consider, in unison, the persistent and undying endeavor of the painter. Whether taken as a proposition or a claim, these works seek to probe the boundless possibilities of abstract painting today.
